Charles Montgomery "Monty" Burns, usually referred to as Mr. Burns is a recurring fictional character in the animated television series The Simpsons, who is voiced by Harry Shearer and previously Christopher Collins. Burns is the owner of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and is Homer Simpson's boss.


Harry Julius Shearer (born December 23, 1943) is an American actor, comedian, writer, voice artist, musician, author, radio host and director. He is known for his long-running role on The Simpsons, Shearer may be best known for his prolific work as a voice actor on The Simpsons.

Harry Shearer directed the 2002 film Teddy Bears' Picnic  Teddy Bears' Picnic is a 2002 film directed and written by Harry Shearer. It was released in May, 2002 to limited audiences. Shearer has a small role.


Teddy Bears' Picnic covers an annual encampment of prominent male leaders at the Zambezi Glen, a thinly-veiled reference to the Bohemian Grove.

The Bohemian Club's all-male membership includes artists, particularly musicians, as well as many prominent business leaders, government officials (including many former U.S. presidents), senior media executives, and people of power.


 Harry Shearer discussed his film Teddy Bears Picnic, a parody of the Bohemian Grove conspiracy. Shearer said he was invited to be a guest at the Grove and was allowed to research at the Bohemian Club in San Francisco:
