Extremists want to destroy the Dome of the Rock

Jewish extremists distributed a picture in Tel-Aviv depicting the holy city without the Dome of the Rock, according the Yedioth Ahronoth on Friday.

The group removed the Dome of the Rock from the picture and replaced it with an image of the planned "third temple".

The picture was printed on the cover of the Haggadah of Pesach (Jewish prayers read on Passover).

The same picture was distributed at schools and kindergartens in Yaffa.

Jerusalem, 17 May 2005 - Israeli police say a handful of Jewish extremists has been arrested over the past month on suspicion of plotting attacks against the Dome of Rock, one of Islam's holiest sites.

Police say several of those in custody admitted discussing trying to buy an anti-tank missile to fire at the mosque complex. The men said they planned to fire the missile, throw hand grenades at approaching Israeli security forces and then commit suicide.
