An Israeli television program in which Gaddafi’s Jewish roots are discussed, by his second cousin in Israel.  “With a Jewish Grandma, and a Jewish Mother, Gaddafi may seek refuge in Israel”, according to Israel Insider.

The Israeli television program discusses Gaddafi’s Jewish mother and grandmother.  This is how Israel Insider explains the connection:

Israel’s Channel 2 News last year interviewed two Israeli women of Libyan origin who claimed to be relatives of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Israel Today’s Ryan Jones reminds us.The older of the two interviewees, Guita Brown, claimed that she is Gaddafi’s second cousin: her grandmother was the sister of Gaddafi’s grandmother. The younger of the two women, Rachel Saada, Brown’s granddaughter , explained in more detail:

“The story goes that Gaddafi’s grandmother, a Jewess, was married to a Jewish man at first. But he treated her badly, so she ran away and married a Muslim sheikh. Their child was the mother of Gaddafi.”

While Gaddafi’s grandmother converted to Islam when she married the sheikh, according to Jewish religious law (and common sense), she was ethnically still Jewish. And that makes Gaddafi’s mother a Jewess. And if Gaddafi’s mother is a Jewess, what does that make Gaddafi?At that point in the news report, the anchor exclaimed, “So, the point is that Gaddafi doesn’t just have Jewish relatives, he is Jewish!”

That may come in handy. According to Israel’s Law of Return, anyone with a Jewish grandparent is entitled to become a citizen, no questions asked.

For many years now the American foreign policy has been characterized by the strong tie between the United States and Israel. Does the United States in fact keep Israel on its feet? Synopsis

The film documents the personal accounts of Ruhal Ahmed, Asif Iqbal and Shafiq Rasul (the 'Tipton Three');three young British men from Tipton in the West Midlands of Pakistani and Bangladeshi origins who travelled to Pakistan in September 2001 just days after the September 11 terrorist attacks in the USA, ostensibly to a wedding of a friend of theirs. While staying at a mosque in Karachi, the three decided to take a rash and dangerous trip to Afghanistan to see first-hand the encounters of the region. 

Mixed with interviews with the three men themselves, and archive news footage from the period, the film contains an account of the three men's experiences from their travels into Afghanistan and to their capture and imprisonment. 

In January 2002, the 'Tipton Three' were declared "enemy combatants" by the US military, and flown with dozens of other alleged Taliban and al-Qaeda fighters to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, where they remained for the next two years. They were held in mostly solitary confinement without charge or legal representation. 

The rest of the film shows several scenes depicting beatings during interrogation, the use of torture techniques such as 'stress positions' and attempts to extract forced confessions of involvement with al-Qaeda and the Taliban. The isolation continued from the Camp X-Ray where they were held as well as another camp. During two years they were subjected to more questioning by US army and Central Intelligence Agency interrogators. 

In one incident, one US army guard at Camp X-Ray desecrated one prisoner's Qur'an by throwing it to the ground to incite a reaction from the rest of the prisoners. 

In another incident, Ruhal witnessed a group of US soldiers severely beat up one unruly and mentally ill Arab prisoner for not obeying their orders. When Ruhal shouts out to the guards that the beatings and torture are in violation of the Geneva Conventions governing the treatment of POWs, he is responded with laughter from the guards who respond that those laws do not apply to enemy combatants. 

The Tipton Three were all released without charge and without any compensation for their imprisonment in 2004. The three were flown back to England where, one year later, they went back to Pakistan for the wedding they planned to attend in the first place. 

The torture depicted in the film had to be softened from the detainees' claims for the benefit of the actors; according to Rizwan Ahmed, they were unable to bear the pain caused by the shackles pressing on their legs, and had to have them cushioned. They were also unable to remain in the stress positions depicted for more than an hour; the Tipton Three claim they were left in them for up to eight hours.

Shin Bet Chief Speaks Against Strike on Iran's Nuclear Facilities: Yuval Diskin Faces Criticism 

This time it was Yuval Diskin who just ended a 6 year stint as the head of Israel's domestic Security Agency, known as the Shin Bet. With the cameras rolling at a political discussion group, Diskin slammed Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak for their leadership on Iran, saying he has no faith in either man to lead Israel in or out of a large-scale conflict. He said he objects to the current operational discussions of an attack and doesn't trust Netanyahu and Barak because their decisions on Iran are based on what he calls quote "messianic" motives.

Diskin went on to accuse Netanyahu and Barak of misleading the Israeli public that a military strike can prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. It's much more likely, Diskin argued, that an Israeli strike would galvanize Muslim support for Iran, lend its nuclear weapons program more legitimacy and perhaps even accelerate the program. And many other experts agree, he added.
